Painting more little things...

God, its like I'm on a tiny things painting kick!  Seriously though, everything is actually for something... its just all small sized! lol!

This week I finally started to work on some new ACEO cards for that section of the online shop!  I know money is tight for everyone right now, so these are great if you wanted something one of a kind and hand painted~ but cant swing one of the gallery pieces.  All ACEO cards will sell for $19 each, and run 3x4" on cardstock with various themes as the subject

I managed to finish a set of cards that are fanart of Vocaloid software icons (google it if you have never heard of them, some of the music is amazing for just using a computer to sing!) I was really happy with these, and I guess everyone was too!  As of this posting the only two left from the set are the yellow twins! I will try and make more cards soon~ if time allows me anyway!

Also this week I have been working away at my large Qee figure for a show in Ronkonkoma, NY.  I will add the show details to my events section this weekend (as well as update it! It needs a good update with new events!!)  She is blue snow themed like the "Small Stuff 3" pieces had been.... just kinda in a blue mood this month I guess.  Winter is on the way~ Is it getting cold where you live?  It was very hot here, but all of a sudden the chilly breeze came around.... time to buy some new jackets!

PS. I was on livestream a LOT this week because of all the work!  If you still want to catch the shows you will need to follow me on twitter~  I decided to remove the archive/on demand content from my livestream because they are just sooooo long and not very fun to rewatch and listen to me talk about things that we brought up in the chatroom, but you can no longer see! lol

Cake show- clean VS sketch

Just a look at one of my final pieces for the solo show next to the sketch I work off of when I vector!  I think this is a good example of what I do, I take the basic idea/concept and just go forward with it right in the software.

This is of my new piece "Queen Bee"~ you can see bigger pics of her (or maybe still buy her or a print) in the online shop OR gallery section of my portfolio

Paint! Paint! Paint!

miss kika painting

This month I really buckled down and started painting my pieces for my very first solo show at Pink Ghost in feb~ "Let them Eat Cake"  My office is an explosion of candy colored paints and ornate frames I managed to find at the thrift shops~   I had a lot of fun sanding everything down and painting them fun colors!  I have tried to split out the pieces and do a few digital (with over painting on canvas) and a few by hand with acrylic.  I like working both ways really~  but painting is just so relaxing.  I like things super smooth when it comes to painting though, so getting that quality on the piece can be a little tedious for me!!  I have about 15 pieces sketched, but it may end up being about 10 in the end due to time.

miss kika painting progress mess

Check out that mess!  When I work its always like this though, I cant focus unless its all on the floor in front of me spread out! hehe

Childish things - doodles

As some of you may already know, I doodle suuuper sloppy for my personal work!  I just get my idea and basic colors down with a tablet, then I move into illustrator and do the real drawing.  I have been told people working in vector normally just do a super clean sketch and trace over it... does that make me weird? hehe its so boring to just follow the lines.

Anyway!!  Here are some very sloppy doodles for a new collection I am working on called "Childish things"! It will/would be pin-up type girls, but with toys we all remember from growing up.  Not sure if it would be for a show or just a print series~ I suppose time will tell. I would LOVE to do a silk screen series.. if only I could afford it.  Well, hope you enjoy the candy-colored chicken scratch! lol
