MISS show at Upperplayground LA!

Sorry for the long break in updates, the holiday season took over and before I knew it it was Jan!  Even if I dont do a journal update I do try and keep the exhibit page up to date though, so check that section or the store for any new gallery pieces that may have popped up

Got a cool show this month that I am very excited to take part in!  M.I.S.S fashion blog and Upper Playground LA ( aka FIFTY24LA Gallery)

 

 

For this show I decided to paint a layered piece in the paper doll theme... so the bottom is the figure, and a glass layer above her is the paper clothing! I'm very happy with it, its one of those pieces you can look at from different angles~ but sadly I cant share a photo at this time, just a small sample shot!  When the gallery sends out one or I am able to take one myself I will add it to the site and here though! If you are in the LA area please do stop by the show though, it looks like an amazing line up of artists + a very cool theme

New paintings for small stuff 3

Finally added the pieces I was working on last week in my Live stream channel!  Every year I have been in the "small stuff" show at Bear and Bird gallery, so this year I decided to hunker down and do the max amount of pieces (5) so more people could have a chance to grab a bitty painting for an affordable price! You can vew these pieces in the Miss Kika shop HERE 

I painted each piece with acrylic paint and added details on each with glitter in two sizes, so when it catches the light it looks really pretty!  The frames are small 5" resin ornate pieces that I repainted to match the pieces + added a hook on the back~ so you can display them standing up or hanging up, your choice!  I priced each at $99, the same price I do every year for this show.  In the past they have sold quickly, so if you are interested in one as this low price your best bet would be to attend the show on the opening night OR contact Bear and Bird ahead of time.  After opening night Bear and Bird usually puts the piece online to purchase through the web store, but sometimes its a bit too late and pieces have already sold ;)  The show will be on Nov.22nd - Jan 9th I have added the event to my exhibit section as well as the flier!

3rd Annual "Ladies First" show

The poptarts have once again put together some lovely female artists for the 3rd annual touring show "Ladies First".  They have been holding my piece from the pirate tour, so since she still needs to find a good home they have put her on as one of the pieces in the show! I really do LOVE how that painting turned out, I hope someone thinks the same~

I wanted to do a bubblegum Queen Elizabeth for the Textbook History show at Compound gallery next month! hehehe XD
all the grey details shine really pretty with the silver leafing, its one of those pieces that looks 100 times better in person ^^

Those of you on facebook may have already read about this, but I actually had to paint this whole thing with ONE EYE!  Thats right, I got an awful something or other in my eye and had to wear an eye patch for a few weeks while it got better! hah!

Painting with one eye was really tricky, gave me quite a headache too!  I got it done though, so I'm pleased

Honey Mama - For Hive Gallery

Into the Darkness


My piece for the "Into the Darkness" show at 1am here in San Fran. The painting is on a Circus Punk blank, about 13" high with acrylic paint. Circus Punks are made after those little furry guys at the Fairs you would try to knock over with a baseball to win a prize~ remember?

Home Tweet Home

Just finished an inreresting custom for the "Home Tweet Home" show at Genuine Artikle in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY!  The show is going to be filled with custom birdhouses, and since I love painting on unique things I was all over this challenge!

This piece is currently for sale through the gallery (you can find out price info in my store section under the painting listings) and will remain at that location after the show if it does not sell~ its painted on an actual birdhouse so you could use it as that, but I think it would make a better unique decoration in someone's house!

3 of a kind show

Well after a bit of painting over the winter holiday my set of three for the "3 of a Kind" show at Bear and Bird gallery is finally finished!  Three sailor sisters and a pinky puss in the background These ended up taking a lot longer than I expected, maybe because the wood plaques are on the larger side.

Not Your Doll

Painting for the Kustom Kulture show in NY next Sat. I need to scan this at the copy shop tomorrow and get it shipped out ASAP on friday with 3 day mail to play it safe....ughhhh I wish I had finished this a week faster :/

I just wanted to do a simple painting that I thought would be easy to enjoy, Im still getting a feeling for how my work transfers to paint, so its a learning process!

I did this with acrylic paints while watching Ghost specials on TLC, lol. When I stepped back to look at it after it was done I realized it felt like CLAMP with all the hair everyplace, haha!

ANYWAY, if you live in NY and wanna stop by the show just check out my events section!

Curvy Mag + Sketchel in AU!

Just found out about this last week, but if you live in AU you can still make the show and check out my bag along with 100 of the other top female artists in the world according to Yen Magazine! The bag I made is for sale at $150 and is one of a kind :) although the show is in 2008, I actually sent this bag into the show in 2006~ it took them a while to get the tour ready I guess :) Im just glad people can see the design now!

Sundae Sweethearts show

The show at Pink Ghost went great, thanks to everyone that came out! I have uploaded some photos on my Flickr for everyone to see, plus I have added the pieces to the portfolio+shop for vieweing.  Most of the pieces have sold already, but I still have a few pieces for sale plus some new merch like an ice cream button set and shirts!

Small Stuff Show

Last week I sent in two new pieces for the "Small Stuff" show at Bear and Bird gallery~ the show will be filled with smaller works of art, all priced for holiday gift-giving.  My two pieces are giclee prints in hand painted candy-colored wooden frames for $75 each~ really fun colors.

"Purgatory: Soul's Lounge"

Pink Ghost has posted my piece for "Purgatory: Soul's Lounge" for online buyers HERE. It is titled "Dearest Little Zombie" and is a giclee print that comes in a really cute oval black frame. I hope someone will give it a good home :)
